20 years ago in the United States, a woman commits three murders and claims responsibility. She is then incarcerated in an asylum in Rome. Her daughter grows up and tries to understand why her mother would do such a thing and suspects she was possessed by a demon. She goes to an exorcism school accompanied by a cameraman, hoping to convince two priests to help her despite not having approval from the Vatican, because they mix science with religious beliefs.
